Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: [date]

Placeholder draft. Bracketed items still need to be filled in.

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone using Kagami Labs services (the "Services"). It is part of our Terms of Service and any agreement you sign with us. Kagami's tools are built to help investigate theft, fraud, and other crimes. They must not be used to cause harm.

1. Permitted Use

The Services may be used for lawful investigations, asset recovery, compliance, litigation support, academic research approved by Kagami, and law enforcement work conducted under applicable legal authority.

2. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Services or Outputs to:

  1. Launder, conceal, or move illicit funds, or test whether your own or a client's transactions can be traced.
  2. Help anyone evade sanctions, law enforcement, or compliance controls.
  3. Stalk, harass, threaten, extort, or intimidate any person, including victims, witnesses, or investigators.
  4. Dox or publicly identify a person as a wrongdoer based on Outputs without independent verification and a lawful purpose.
  5. Target victims of hacks or scams for further fraud or "recovery" scams.
  6. Conduct surveillance or profiling of individuals without lawful basis.
  7. Engage in unlawful discrimination or decisions about employment, credit, housing, or insurance.
  8. Violate any law, including privacy, sanctions, export control, and data protection laws.

3. Platform Integrity

You may not:

  1. Share accounts or credentials, or give access to anyone not authorized under your agreement.
  2. Scrape, crawl, bulk download, or systematically extract data or Outputs.
  3. Reverse engineer the Services or attempt to derive methods, models, or source code.
  4. Use the Services or Outputs to build, train, or benchmark a competing product or dataset.
  5. Resell, redistribute, or publish Outputs in bulk.
  6. Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities, or bypass security or usage limits, without written permission. Report security issues to frodo@kagamilabs.io.
  7. Upload malware or interfere with the Services.
  8. Submit attributions or claims you know or suspect are false.

4. Handling Outputs Responsibly

Treat Outputs as leads. Verify them independently before taking action against any person or asset. When sharing Outputs with others, such as courts, exchanges, or clients, describe them accurately as analytical results with their stated confidence.

5. Customer Vetting

Kagami may verify the identity and purpose of any user or organization, and may decline, limit, or end access at its discretion, including to sanctioned persons or where misuse is suspected.

6. Enforcement

Kagami may investigate suspected violations, suspend or terminate access, remove content, and cooperate with law enforcement as permitted by law. Violations may also breach your agreement with Kagami.

7. Reporting Misuse

Report suspected misuse to frodo@kagamilabs.io.
